Contender's production process
To produce fabrics of the highest possible standard, Contender works closely with their fibre producers, weavers and the outstanding German finishing company KBC. Thanks to this close co-operation and constant consultation with sailors and sailmakers all over the world, we have built up an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of sailcloth in all its varieties.
Emphasis on crs
We adhere greatly to the PPP-principle: People, Planet, Prosperity.
We work only with partners that provide good labour conditions according to European standards.
We apply strict environmental standards. For example, we avoid the emission of solvents by collecting them and using them as fuel for heating our production lines.
We work on an equal and open basis with our suppliers and our offices throughout the world. This ensures that the best available skills are in place throughout our production & supply system and that we can always use the best available technology.
In the weaving process a fabric is created by interlocking two sets of yarns.
Whereas the woven base fabric (greige) is providing stability in the warp and fill directions, the overall stability of a sailcloth fabric is created in the finishing process.
